Welcome to The Pilot Wife Life!

These terms govern your use of all aspects of The Pilot Wife Life including but not limited to products, features, services, technologies, software, communities, and groups we offer except where we expressly state that separate terms (and not these) apply.

OUR SERVICES

Our mission is to give the aviation community the power to build meaningful friendships, support one another, strengthen marriages and relationships, participate in a safe and positive community, and to live the aviation lifestyle together. To help advance this mission and give you a personalized experience, we provide the products and services described below to you:

Your experience on The Pilot Wife Life will be unlike anyone else’s. From the content, blogs, events, ads, and threads on the Flight Deck community as well as all the other features you may use now and in the future such as resources, learning, and search options, we provide you with a unique experience. The Pilot Wife uses the data we have – for example the connections you make, the settings you choose, the products you purchase – to personalize your experience.

Connect you with positive, encouraging people who ‘get it’.

Aviation is a unique lifestyle. We want to help you find and connect with others living a similar lifestyle that understand what life looks like from the sky view who can encourage and support you on your own journey, and vice versa. The Pilot Wife Life uses the data we have to make suggestions for you and others, to connect you with community, and to optimize your experience – for example, groups to join, events to attend, blogs to read, messages we send, and people in our closed communities that you may enjoy connecting with. Stronger ties make for better community, and we believe our services are most useful when people are connected to others they can relate to.

Empower you to express yourself in a positive and empowering manner that strengthens the community and your relationships. 

There are many ways to express yourself on The Pilot Wife Life and to communicate with other aviation members about what matters to you – for example sharing in the Flight Deck community, participating in the groups, joining video chats, sending private messages, and commenting on blogs. I will continue to explore new ways for you to use and get the most out of the experience and to engage in the community on The Pilot Wife Life.

We may showcase ads, offers, products, services, and other sponsored content to help you discover content, products, and services that are offered by The Pilot Wife Life as well as our outside business partners and organizations that we feel are relevant to your life. We will endeavor to make sure that only content that is relevant to our lifestyles is chosen and shown. I will continue to create new, original products to enrich your life and to help you live life and love your aviation spouse out loud. My outside partners may pay me to show their content to you, and I will design my services so that the sponsored content you see is as relevant and useful to you as everything else that you see on our website. We will continue to research new resources, write new blogs, and share useful products with you all with the intent of enhancing your experience at The Pilot Wife Life as well as enriching your aviation lifestyle.

We can only build a thriving, healthy community at The Pilot Wife Life if our members feel safe. I work hard to ensure that this community is being used as intended. We do our best to monitor all content shared on The Pilot Wife Life for appropriateness. However, we run off a limited team of volunteers and unpaid admins, we depend on you to help us keep this community safe by 1) following the rules of conduct and 2) immediately reporting any conduct or behaviors that seem inappropriate. Bullying, trolling, belittling, demeaning, stereotyping, harassment (sexual or of any other caliber), and any other conduct harmful conduct towards others as well as any other situation where content or conduct is deemed to fall outside the stated mission of this community will be addressed as promptly as possible upon being made aware. Such content or conduct will receive appropriate action – for example but not limited to removal of content, blocking of access to certain features, disabling accounts, or contacting law enforcement. I may share data with other lawful entities as according to the Privacy Policy if misuse or harmful conduct by person(s) using one of our Services should occur.

OUR DATA POLICY AND YOUR PRIVACY CHOICES  

To provide these services, we must collect and use your personal data. We detail our practices in the Privacy Policy, which you must agree to in order to use our Products.

YOUR COMMITMENTS TO THE PILOT WIFE LIFE AND OUR COMMUNITY 

We provide these services to you and others to help advance our mission and enrich the lives of those in the aviation community. In exchange, we need you to make the following commitments:

Who can use The Pilot Wife Life Community: 

We firmly believe that people are much more likely to consider the implication of their words and actions when they are held accountable for them. This creates a community that is safer and more fun for everyone.
For this reason you must:
*Use your name that you use in everyday life.
*Provide accurate information about yourself.
*Create only one (your own) account and use your timeline for only personal purposes.
*Not share your password, give access to your account to others, or transfer your account to anyone else.
You cannot use The Pilot Wife Life community if:
*You are under 13 years of age.
*You are a convicted sex offender.
*You have a restraining order against you held by an active community member.
*We previously disabled your account for violations of our terms and policies.
*You are prohibited from receiving our products or services under applicable law.

GROUP EXCEPTIONS

Please note that we do not restrict the members of The Pilot Wife Life community by gender, race, career, sexual preference, country of origin, religious belief, political belief, or any other such discriminatory basis outside the above stated exceptions (who can use The Pilot Wife Life). Everyone who follows the code of conduct and is an active paid member of the community will have access to the main community page and can partake in the Services provided therein. However, private, specialized group exceptions exist within the parameters of The Pilot Wife Life community of which specific requirements may apply for the safety of the users there within due to the sensitivity of the content – for example, a women’s only Pilot Wife group where gender is a factor, etc. I (The Pilot Wife) will be a member of all sub groups on The Pilot Wife Life regardless of restrictions and have the right to monitor all content in all groups. All special interest groups will be created and approved by The Pilot Wife Life but will have overseeing administrators who meet group criteria and who have also been advised of and agree to enforce and follow the code of conduct as expected across the entirety of The Pilot Wife Life.

While we do our best to maintain a safe environment, please understand that the internet has no guarantees and that users, though discouraged to do so, do have the ability to share your private information outside of The Pilot Wife Life. We are not liable nor can we control the actions of others. Please always use great discretion when sharing personal and private information anywhere on the internet, for your own safety.

WHAT YOU CAN SHARE ON THE PILOT WIFE LIFE 

The Pilot Wife Life is a community with a very specific 3-tiered mission: 1) Teach our F.L.Y. – first love yourself, 2) create a positive and supportive community that encourages one another in this lifestyle, and 3) strengthen aviation marriages/relationships. This is not a free-for-all chat room, and all content shared by users must be amicable to this mission. If you are looking for a place to vent and unload in a negative or damaging manner, please look elsewhere. We are a ‘scroll don’t troll’ community. This means that if you do not like something you see, simply move on. Conduct will be closely monitored and the following rules strictly enforced:

*You may not advertise your products or business in any way without express permission from The Pilot Wife Life.
*All content must be amicable to the mission (as stated above) of The Pilot Wife Life.
*You may not knowingly share anything that is unlawful, misleading, discriminatory, pornographic, or fraudulent.
*You may not demean, belittle, attack, bully, troll members of The Pilot Wife Community.
*You may not portray in any negative manner the members of this community, their spouses, The Pilot Wife Life community, or any aviation related company, airline, or business inside of The Pilot Wife Life community.
*Information, photos, comments, discussions, and all other content shared by other users is considered private. You may not repeat, share, screenshot, or otherwise display any information shared by users in any form outside of The Pilot Wife Life.
*You may not push political agendas on The Pilot Wife Life.
*You may not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of The Pilot Wife Life or other users.
*You may not copy, redistribute, claim for your own, or plagiarize any content, designs, or other copyrighted content provided by and on The Pilot Wife Life.
*You may not upload viruses or malicious code or do anything that could disable, overburden, or impair the proper function of The Pilot Wife Life.
*You may not access or collect data from The Pilot Wife Life that you do not have permission to access.

CONDUCT VIOLATIONS 

By using our Services, you have agreed to all of the Terms and Policies of The Pilot Wife Life. For the protection of our users, conduct and content violations will be swiftly dealt with. If we deem you have shared content or participated in conduct which is in violation of our policies, we can: send a warning, remove your submitted content without forewarning, take action against your account up to an including termination without refund, and if applicable contact law enforcement and legal entities. To help us protect and support our community, we encourage you to report content or conduct that you believe violates your rights or our terms and policies.

PERMISSIONS YOU GIVE US: 

We need certain permissions from you in order to provide our Services. By using our Services, you are agreeing to the following permissions:

*Permission to use content you create and share: You own the content you create and share on The Pilot Wife Life, and nothing in these Terms takes away the rights you have to your own content. You are free to share your own content with anyone else, wherever and whenever you want. To provide our services, however, you are giving us legal permission to use that content on The Pilot Wife Life. This permission extends to include your name, information, profile pictures, and other publicly shared data that you provide in the community, but is exclusive of privately shared data such as emails, credit card information, addresses, etc., privately provided to obtain Services (such as product sales) as covered under the Privacy Policy.

Specifically, when you share, post, or upload content that is covered by intellectual property rights (like photos or videos or quotes) on or in connection with our Services, you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, and worldwide license to host, use, distribute, modify, run, copy, publicly perform or display, translate, and create derivative works of your content (consistent with your privacy and application settings). This means, for example, that if you share a photo on Facebook, you give us permission to store, copy, and share it with others (again, consistent with your settings) such as service providers that support our service or other Facebook Products you use.

You can end this license any time by deleting your content or account. You should know that, for technical reasons, content you delete may persist for a limited period of time in backup copies (though it will not be visible to other users). In addition, content you delete may continue to appear if you have shared it with others and they have not deleted it.

*Permission to update software you use or download: If you download or use our software, you give us permission to download and install upgrades, updates, and additional features to improve, enhance, and further develop it.

*Limits on using our intellectual property: If you use content covered by intellectual property rights that we have and make available in our Services (for example, images, designs, videos, or sounds we provide that you add to content you create or share on The Pilot Wife Life or outside The Pilot Wife Life), we retain all rights to that content (but not yours, as above). You can only use our copyrights or trademarks (or any similar marks) as expressly permitted with our prior written permission. You must obtain our written permission to modify, create derivative works of, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract source code from us.

ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS

UPDATING OUR TERMS

We work consistently to improve our Services and develop new features to make The Pilot Wife Life more enriching for you and our community. As a result, we may need to update these Terms from time to time to accurately reflect our Services and practices. Unless otherwise required by law, we will notify you before we make changes to these Terms and give you an opportunity to review them before they go into effect. Once any updated Terms are in effect, you will be bound by them if you continue to use our Services. If you do not agree to our updated Terms and no longer wish to be a part of The Pilot Wife Life community, you can delete your account at any time.

ACCOUNT SUSPENSION OR TERMINATION

We obviously want The Pilot Wife Life to be a place where people feel welcome and safe to express themselves and share their thoughts and ideas in compliance with our mission. If we determine that you have violated our terms or policies, we may take action against your account to protect our community and services, including by suspending access to your account or disabling it. We may also suspend or disable your account without refund (but with termination of future subscription payments) if you create risk or legal exposure for us or when we are permitted or required to do so by law. If you delete or we disable your account, these Terms shall terminate as an agreement between you and us, but the following provisions will remain in place:

*Limits on liability
We work hard to provide the best Services possible so we can and to specify clear guidelines for everyone who uses them. Our Services, however, are provided “as is,” and we make no guarantees that they always will be safe, secure, or error-free, or that they will function without disruptions, delays, or imperfections. To the extent permitted by law, we also DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not control or direct what people and others do or say, and we are not responsible for their actions or conduct (whether online or offline) or any content they share (including offensive, inappropriate, obscene, unlawful, and other objectionable content).
We cannot predict when issues might arise with our Services. Accordingly, our liability shall be limited to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, and under no circumstance will we be liable to you for any lost profits, revenues, information, or data, or consequential, special, indirect, exemplary, punitive, or incidental damages arising out of or related to these Terms or The PIlot Wife Life Services, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Facebook Services will not exceed the amount you have paid us in the past twelve months.

*Disputes
We try to provide clear rules so that we can limit or hopefully avoid disputes between you and us. If a dispute does arise, however, it’s useful to know up front where it can be resolved and what laws will apply. For any claim, cause of action, or dispute you have against us that arises out of or relates to these Terms or The Pilot WIfe Life Services (“claim”), you agree that it will be resolved exclusively in the U.S. District Court for Texas or a state court located in Montgomery County. You also agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of either of these courts for the purpose of litigating any such claim, and that the laws of the State of Texas will govern these Terms and any claim, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

*Usage
Intellectual property that you have previously given us permission to use, as stated above in permissions, cannot be easily tracked and removed from every social media forum or written form due to the vastness of the internet once distributed. If intellectual property was used under permissions before the termination of your account, it will remain in usage without removal (for example pictures turned into memes, quotes in blogs, stories shared in books, etc.).

*Other
1. These Terms make up the entire agreement between you and The Pilot Wife Life regarding your use of our Services. They supersede any prior agreements.
2. Some of the Services we offer may also be governed by supplemental terms. If you use any of those Services, supplemental Terms will be made available and will become part of our agreement with you. For instance, if you access or use our Services for commercial or business purposes, such as buying ads, selling products, developing apps, you must agree to our Commercial Terms.
3. If any portion of these Terms are found to be unenforceable, the remaining portion will remain in full force and effect. If we fail to enforce any of these Terms, it will not be considered a waiver. Any amendment to or waiver of these Terms must be made in writing and signed by us.
4. You will not transfer any of your rights or obligations under these Terms to anyone else without our consent.
7. You should know that we may need to change the username for your account in certain circumstances (for example, if someone else claims the username and it appears unrelated to the name you use in everyday life).
8. We always appreciate your feedback and other suggestions about our products and services. But you should know that we may choose to reject them or to use them without any restriction or obligation to compensate you, and we are under no obligation to keep them confidential.
9. We reserve all rights not expressly granted to you.
